Post-wreckage update

It's hard to believe that it has been so long since I last posted an update. Unfortunately, last month we had a large oak tree fall into our house as Hurricane Ike passed over our town. The hurricane had actually been downgraded to a tropical storm, after traveling roughly 700 miles across land, but that didn't stop it from knocking down more than half a dozen trees in our yard. They were all large oaks, and every one of them was lifted out of the ground, leaving the rootball exposed.  keep reading »

more studio problems - returned the glyph

Well, I decided to return the Glyph hard drive. It was working, but not very fast. In fact, it was stuttering all over the place. I tried it with several different firewire cards and none of them solved the performance problems. Then the folks over at Sweetwater tech support were nice enough to send me a replacement drive. It didn't perform any better, so I can only assume that my PC is the bottleneck. What a pain.  keep reading »

busy in the studio

I spent most of this morning rearranging and cleaning up the studio. Previously I had just thrown most of it together and did my best to make it so that all of my gear was accessible. However, things were feeling somewhat disjointed and there was no "flow". I decided to put away most of the synths and other gear that I don't use regularly, and the room is much more organized now. I also managed to setup a workstation for Christina, who is spending more time blogging lately and deserved more than just a corner of the desk to rest her laptop.  keep reading »
